You'd be better off going to a local bank or credit union or seeing if a family member could help you out. Cut your communications if you're asked for upfront fee. I've recently tried one by a MikkyJames (from Mikky lenders) who operates out of Nigeria. I was told to remit US$300 as non-collateral fee. Being me, I've told them to deduct the fee from the loan amount. I've not heard from them since.. So, one needs to be smart enough to smell rats. If they ask you for money up front, I wouldn't do it. Advance fee loans are all over the place now and as far as I know, they're all scams. See FTC warning on web link below.
