  1. Many people have the same names or a least last names. A collection agency will contact anyone the same name in hopes of making a collection. Just state that it is not you and that they are not to have any further contact. Any entry in your credit report will result in legal action by you.

  3. The same thing happened to me. Out of the blue I was called regarding an outstanding phone bill of over $1200!
    Turns out that was only the beginning as several credit cards, a utility, an Ohio DL and an emergency room visit was linked to my SS#.
    No creditor believed me and the police did nothing but bury a report. So I called max waters at id watchdog 800.774.3772. Not only did he prevent an attempted car loan in my name, they fixed all those other problems as well.
