This actually did happen to me.
I found out when I had my security clearance revoked in the Army.
My commander told me to “take care of it,” so I filled out paperwork-reports and some I ended up just paying off to get out the way as quickly as possible. Sucks but remember after this-you still won’t be safe-cause they will do it again! Errr-

  1. One thing that will help you is signing up for Life Lock. If they live up to their ads, then that is going to be a company that everyone should sign up for (I’m a skeptic, I’m risking my credit & ID by not signing up right now. same w/buying cars, I never buy the 1st production model)

Routinely monitor your credit reports for accuracy from all of the reporting agencies to prevent anything slipping by on your credit reports. If you haven’t done so yet, contact them to make sure the credit card companies have updated their entries in your credit report.

Maybe this is paranoia, but even at restaurants I frequent regularly, I will not pay at the table if using my credit or debit card. I always wait until I get to the cash register. There are too many devices that can be easily hidden in a pocket they can swipe your card through & capture all of the cards information.
