  1. no, it’s not the government’s fault people are idiots with what they do

  2. Seems like a good idea to me, because the problem is not confined to one company but to many. The government’s role is to serve the people, and id theft seems to be a common enough problem that such assistance would benefit enough people to make it worthwhile.

Just wait til Matt’s bank has a hole in their firewall and his identity gets stolen. Will he learn to stop blaming the victim then? Nah, just in that one case.

  3. I don’t think the government should be actively protecting people from Identity theft but i think the FBI should be pursuing Identity thieves.

Protecting millions of people would be impossible instead the government should be focused on finding the people who are stealing identities.

  4. Of course government should be involved in protecting people from crime. That’s one of its most basic functions.

  5. If by government you mean law enforcement, then yes and they already are. If you mean Congress then no. They pass they laws and law enforcement enforces. Except for illegal aliens. They break the law just by being here illegally but congress wants to get involved in that

  6. they already are. but then most believe that government is unorganized, stupid, and can’t keep their panties from getting all bunched up about any issue,.
    Do it yourself.
